The Master Gardener Program

The Tennessee Extension Master Gardener (TEMG) Program is a volunteer service organization offered by The University of Tennessee Extension.  The purpose of the Master Gardener program is to train citizens as horticulture educators for their communities. To become a Certified Master Gardener in Hamilton County you must complete:

• 40 hour Master Gardener Training Program
• 40 hours of volunteer service
• 8 additional hours of continuing education

Class Schedule

The 2022 class will be will be held in-person at the Hamilton County Extension Office. There are two class options:

• Tuesday Mornings – 9:45am to 12:45pm – 1/25/22 through 5/3/22
• Monday Evenings – 6:00pm to 9:00pm – 1/31/22 through 5/9/22

Each week, UT professors and specialists will provide two hours of instruction via Zoom. Extension Master Gardeners and other local experts will follow-up with Q&A sessions and additional information. See the Weekly Class Schedule below for a complete list of topics.

Registration & Payment

• Complete the online REGISTRATION FORM
• The form must be submitted by January 7, 2022
• Cost: $170 for individuals; $260 for couples sharing materials
• Payment Options

  • Check or money order payable to UT Extension. Mail to: UT Extension Office, 6183 Adamson Cir. Chattanooga TN 37416
  • Bring cash or check to the UT Extension Office (no credit cards)

In accordance with UT guidance, masks are expected to be worn inside the building and participants will be spread out inside the classroom.
