Chattanooga Zoo

The Chattanooga Zoo has grown a lot since it became a MGHC project in 2013, and Master Gardeners have risen to the challenge to create and support natural spaces the fit into the zoo’s mission. Their work has inspired the community to invest in their own natural spaces.

Over the years, Master Gardeners have landscaped various gardens around the property. Currently, MGHC maintains six gardens including themed gardens that reflect nearby zoo exhibits. Most recently, Master Gardeners have consulted on two pollinator gardens at the zoo. Their goal is to create a haven for pollinators in the urban landscape of downtown Chattanooga. MGHC partnered with the zoo to create a pollinator garden information podium, the first of its kind, where zoo patrons can learn about pollinators and how they can create pollinator-friendly spaces at home.

MGHC has committed to contributing to education in gardening topics and economic stewardship as the zoo expands their reach into a new education center planned in the near future.
