The school is located at 5210 Cassandra Smith Rd Hixson TN. Principal Shelly Jackson reached out to MGHC on January 13, 2026. After several walk and talks, the vision was clear; to have a complete outdoor learning environment over the entire 21.5 acre campus. This project was approved on April 2, 2026. The vision includes establishing an arboretum, raised beds, nature learning trails, locating native plants and shrubs, creating butterfly habitats, several basecamps, a proposed pavilion, and nesting boxes. MGHC will be guiding these processes forward, with the great Big Ridge Elementary PTA, doing the bulk of the heavy lifting. This will be a long term project and there will be many opportunities for MG’s to educate with presentations and demonstrations to Teachers, Students, and the Community. MG’s have already begun educating on Trail Flagging, Tree Identification for Arboretum, and identifying, marking and removing invasives.
