It’s time to plant potatoes! Laura Robinson, Chattanooga Foodbank Garden Coordinator, contributed these notes on putting your potatoes into the ground, with a nod to Master Gardener Katie Bishop, who teaches in-person and online classes on planting seed potatoes.
Potatoes are starchy, edible tubers in the nightshade family (along with tomatoes, peppers and eggplant). At the Food Bank we generally plant potatoes in the spring. Given that our spring is relatively short, I look for potato varieties that mature early. For additional information on growing potatoes CLICK HERE.
