The only public garden on our tour and located in front of the Hamilton County Agriculture Center, the Bonny Oaks Arboretum is maintained by the Master Gardeners of Hamilton County. This mid-19th century garden was among the first state certified arboretums in Tennessee. Directly outside the historic Dent House, a statue donated by the alumni of the Bonny Oaks Children’s Home is a reminder of the joy this garden has provided for decades. Centered around a beautiful fountain, the arboretum showcases more than fifty-five trees and shrubs identified by both their common and scientific names. Join us for a stroll in the shade of the beautiful willow oak dating back to at least 1854, or you can take a seat on the bench made from a branch of the very same tree.
