The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our motto is: ‘We Teach You How!‘
For the past twenty-five years, the Master Gardeners of Hamilton County (MGHC) has provided volunteer leadership and service through gardening and horticultural projects and public education programs. MGHC strives to increase the availability of gardening information throughout the community in order to improve the quality of life.
Activities include: developing and conducting educational programs and activities related to gardening and nature; sponsoring clinics; writing news articles; answering questions from the general public; and establishing demonstration gardens. MGHC has had a long-standing relationship with the Chattanooga Area Foodbank, building, planting and sustaining their raised beds as part of the Navarre Teaching Gardens and with the produce benefitting the Foodbank. MGHC created and continues to maintain the certified Butterfly & Hummingbird Garden between the Tennessee Aquariums. Among our many projects, MG volunteers work at the Chattanooga Zoo to develop and expand their outdoor landscaping; at Crabtree Farms assisting in the greenhouse and with general garden activities, as well as at their spring and fall plant sales; and at Reflection Riding to work around their grounds. MGHC also supports community and educational gardens at the Alpine Crest Elementary School, Bonny Oaks Arboretum, Brained by Grace, Brainerd Mission Cemetery, and St. Alban’s Church. And MGs can be found working with numerous community groups teaching them about growing their own food in a sustainable way. MGHC also provides scholarships to Tennessee residents seeking Agriculture or Horticulture degrees at Tennessee colleges.
Your donation will help fund our scholarship program, community grants, education programs and MGHC projects. Any amount you give will help us to continue to provide and expand these services.
