3rd Saturday Class: Time to Sow Cool-Season Crops
July 20 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
While it may seem counter-intuitive to be planting cool-season crops during these hot July days, this is exactly when it needs to be done in order to harvest yummy produce in late fall and early winter. Many vegetables — beets, broccoli, carrots, radishes, kale and lettuces — are sweeter when grown in cool weather! Master Gardener Diane Shelly will show you what to do step by step from selecting seeds to starting them in the right conditions, to transplanting them in outdoor beds or containers. You’ll even create your own little seedling pack to take home and plant outside when the time is right.
Classes are held in person at the UT/TSU Hamilton County Extension Center (6183 Adamson Circle, off Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga).
