3rd Saturday Class: Folklore, Magic & Medicine — Plants of Appalachia

October 18, 2025 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Long before modern pharmacies, people turned to the forest for healing remedies. Appalachia — one of the most biodiverse regions in the United States — has always been rich with plants that provide care and comfort. In this class, Master Gardener Hannah Lanning will explore how certain plants were once considered essential in these folk practices but are now forgotten or considered weeds today.

Classes are held in person at the UT/TSU Hamilton County Extension (6183 Adamson Circle, off Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga).
