This series is ideal for both novice gardeners and those who have recently relocated to this area.  In this comprehensive overview, you will learn a variety of strategies and techniques for successful gardening, including how to work with our predominantly clay soil and inconsistent weather. Our UTIA-trained teachers will help you understand the horticultural science behind gardening, providing the most current research-based information about the principles of good land stewardship as well as trees, shrubs and other plants work best in our area.  We hope that you will take away a greater appreciation for our natural environment and how you can play a part in making your own backyard thrive with plantings and wildlife.

The class is held over four weeks in March in the ground-floor classroom (handicapped accessible) at the Hamilton County Extension Office (6183 Adamson Circle, off Bonny Oaks Drive). Topics include:

  • Soils & Fertilization / Turf Grasses
