When the Littlefields purchased their 1926-built home 43 years ago, the mature trees in the backyard called for a shade garden. Over the years, Lanis has created a charming and colorful sanctuary, featuring an amazing variety of plants including an array of Japanese maples, ferns, hellebores, heucheras, and hydrangeas. Along the paths many plants grow in beautiful, handmade “hypertufa” pots, ideal for plants requiring good drainage. Nestled throughout the plantings unique pieces of art appear bringing a magical element to the garden. To fulfill his wife’s dream, Ron converted a small structure into the “ultimate” potting shed, creating a space that is both attractive and practical, allowing for the organization of her pots, tools, soil, seeds, and other materials. Once you enter this garden, you will not want to leave.
