Established in the Spring of 2022, this experimental garden has become a ‘classroom’ for ways urbanites can transform a half-acre lot into an incredible, multi-functioning ecosystem. The yard is loosely divided into stations that provide examples of the ways backyard gardeners can reduce their environmental impact, feed themselves, and welcome more wildlife. Stations include dwarf fruit trees with companion planting, blueberry privacy hedges, butterfly nursery beds, and a transformed slope into a pollinator meadow. Being only a year old, the garden is in its infancy, but it provides an easy template for those wanting to start. Mallory teaches about outdoor and wildlife education on her online platform @Ms.MalloryAdventures (FB & IG).
