Public Oasis with Native Plantings

This public garden was created to nurture, heal, and support the Lookout Mountain ecosystem of birds, bees, butterflies, bats, beetles, toads, turtles, owls, foxes and more.  It honors the unique natural wonders of the community by inspiring the use of less lawn, less water, fewer chemicals, and the use of more native plantings to bring harmony to nature’s wildlife both above and below ground.  Designed by Dennis Bishop, Going Native Landscape, in conjunction with a committee of advocates from the Lookout Mountain Garden Clubs and Bee City USA, the garden features more than 200 trees and shrubs, along with nearly 2,200 native perennials that bloom year-round.  Benches encourage visitors to gather and spend time in nature; and a rustic arbor at the back begins “The Jimmy Campbell Connector Trail” leading to the Fairyland School.
