SUMMARY:October Third Saturday Class "Heritage Gardening with Thomas Jefferson"
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Cate Mueller\, Master Gardener \n\n\n\nBefore he wrote the Declaration of Independence and long before he was President of our young nation\, Thomas Jefferson was a dedicated gardener who kept meticulous records about what he planted and how it performed. As he prepared to return to Monticello following his presidency\, Jefferson began planning more extensive flower gardens on the grounds of the house. Master Gardener Cate Mueller will show you those gardens and how many of the perennials seen there still take pride of place in American gardens today.  Jefferson holds a special position in the gardening history of the United States\, but many\, if not most\, of us find ourselves connected intimately to our personal “heritage gardening” that we have learned from our own families. Cate will show connections that her own garden has with her family heritage as well as with the gardens in the Age of Jefferson.    \n\n\n\nThe class is free\, but registration is required. The Zoom link will be sent after registration.

SUMMARY:September Third Saturday Class "Creating a Native Plant Habitat"
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ron McKitrick \n\n\n\nMaster Gardener & Photographer Ron McKitrick will show us how to create garden habitats for native birds\, bees\, butterflies and other pollinators using native plants. Among the benefits\, natives use less water and fertilizer since they thrive in local conditions. Through his own trial and error process combined with an understanding of environmental factors\, Ron discovered that he not only transformed his backyard but also stimulated his own well-being. His examples will include the various ground covers\, vines\, perennials\, shrubs\, and trees he used to create his garden habitats. Join us to learn from his gardening experiences and be encouraged to enhance your own backyard with native plants. \n\n\n\nRegister: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/627001094157258018/false#/invitation
