SUMMARY:38th Annual Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County are pleased to present our 38th Annual Garden Tour! This year we have chosen six unique locations on Signal Mountain and Hixson. These gardens feature inspired\, personalized landscapes created by both long-time gardening enthusiasts and relative newcomers with imaginative approaches. Highlights of this year’s tour include: a garden with many unusual specimen trees and shrubs; another using creative water management design in a compact space; examples of raised bed and container gardening; several with a wide variety of yard art throughout; and a farm devoted to scientifically regenerating soil plus friendly alpacas. Touring these gardens provides the opportunity to experience the unique visions of other gardeners\, sparking ideas for your own garden while enjoying a walk through colorful landscapes. \n\n\n\nThe Tour can be started at any of the gardens\, which can be visited in any order. Tours of the gardens are self-guided\, so feel free to take your time exploring the properties. Parking is on the street or where designated. As most of these are private homes\, we cannot guarantee that all locations are handicapped accessible. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for walking. Home owners and Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. There will also be signs and plant lists for identifying many of the plantings.
We hope you enjoy and are inspired by these wonderful outdoor spaces! \n\n\n\nPhoto: N.W. SUMMARY:3rd Saturday Class: Plants Discovered by the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1804-06
DESCRIPTION:The Lewis and Clark Expedition\, under the command of Captain Meriwether Lewis and Second Lieutenant William Clark\, was commissioned by President Jefferson to explore and map the newly acquired territory in the Louisiana Purchase and to find a practical route across the western half of the continent. A secondary objective was scientific: to study the area’s plants\, animal life\, and geography. Among their achievements was documenting and preserving over 178 plants new to western science. Master Gardener Carol Davis highlights some of the plants they discovered\, where they were found\, and how they were used by both Native Americans and the Expedition itself during their journey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are held in person at the UT/TSU Hamilton County Extension (6183 Adamson Circle\, off Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga). \n\n\n\nTo attend this class\, please register on SignUp HERE \n\n\n\nPlease visit MGHC’s YouTube channel for 3rd Saturday Class videos and other gardening-related presentations.

SUMMARY:3rd Saturday Class: Time to Sow Cool-Season Crops
DESCRIPTION:While it may seem counter-intuitive to be planting cool-season crops during these hot July days\, this is exactly when it needs to be done in order to harvest yummy produce in late fall and early winter. Many vegetables — beets\, broccoli\, carrots\, radishes\, kale and lettuces — are sweeter when grown in cool weather! Master Gardener Diane Shelly will show you what to do step by step from selecting seeds to starting them in the right conditions\, to transplanting them in outdoor beds or containers. You’ll even create your own little seedling pack to take home and plant outside when the time is right. \n\n\n\nPhoto: Carol Goldfarb\n\n\n\nClasses are held in person at the UT/TSU Hamilton County Extension Center (6183 Adamson Circle\, off Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga). \n\n\n\nTo attend this class in person\, register on SignUp HERE. \n\n\n\nVisit our YouTube channel for more 3rd Saturday Classes and other educational gardening presentations.

SUMMARY:37th Annual Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County are pleased to present our 37th Annual Garden Tour! This year we have chosen eight unique gardens in the Red Bank\, Hixson\, and Soddy Daisy areas. Four gardens display the creativity and varied interests of current Master Gardeners; while the other four feature inspired landscapes created by long-time gardening enthusiasts. Highlights of this year’s tour include: a garden with over 250 daylily varieties; a landscaped area where palm and eucalyptus trees grow alongside colorful flower beds and other unique plantings; a loofah gourd patch; a shady stump garden with many varieties of ferns along rock paths; an Asian-inspired garden with Japanese maples; and an outdoor environmental classroom that provides an outstanding learning experience for elementary school students. \n\n\n\nThe tour can be started at any of the gardens\, which can be visited in any order. Tours of the gardens are self-guided\, so feel free to take your time exploring the properties. Parking is on the street or where designated. We recommend carpooling if possible.
The tour can be started at any of the gardens\, which can be visited in any order. Tours of the gardens are self-guided\, so feel free to take your time exploring the properties. Parking is on the street or where designated. We recommend carpooling if possible. We hope you enjoy and are inspired by these wonderful outdoor spaces!” \n\n\n\n\n\nCollins Garden / Photo: Sandee Jenkins\n\n\n\nAdditional Information About the Tour Gardens \n\n\n\n2024 Garden Tour Flyer with Map \n\n\n\n\n\nNOTE: Online price includes processing fee \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Number of Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n \n 1 Ticket $21.25 USD\n \n \n 2 Tickets $42.00 USD\n \n \n 3 Tickets $62.75 USD\n \n \n 4 Tickets $83.50 USD
