This past weekend, June 2-3, 2012, people ventured out in this beautiful weather to enjoy the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s 25th annual Spring Garden Tour. The tour took visitors through one community garden, one school garden, and four private gardens.
The Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s Evelyn Davenport Navarre Teaching & Enabling Garden shows how to make the most of growing in urban spaces. The Montessori School Sensory Garden is full of things to touch, see, smell, taste, and hear.
The private gardens on the tour this year belonged to Suzanne & Kin Smith, Jane Elmore, Dona Smith, and Jim Keown. Each garden featured different gardening styles from urban cottage garden with colorful flowers and garden artifacts, shade garden with nature stream flowing through, natural woodland settings, orchards, butterfly gardens, and garden ‘rooms’ with water features and yard art.
The proceeds from the 25th Spring Garden Tour will be used for the support of the CAFB’s Bill Davenport Community Garden.
