The next set of Rain Barrel Workshops are scheduled for Saturday, February 12 and Saturday, March 5 at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. (See the informational post on rain barrels here.) The 2-hour workshops are designed so that participants build their own rain barrel and have the knowledge to successfully install them and begin to collect rainwater.
Depending on the weather, the workshops will be held either at the Teaching Pavilion or in the warehouse. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is located at 2009 Curtain Pole Road (see map below). The cost is $25 and participants will build one rain barrel to take home with them for installation.
No tools are necessary. Some gluing is involved as well as moving dusty barrels so participants are encouraged to wear old clothing. Also, bring a vehicle that will accommodate taking your barrel(s) home from the workshop. The barrels are around 55 gallons in size, so a vehicle with cargo space like a pickup truck is recommended.
For information on painting your rain barrel, go to this post.
The following workshops are available:
Saturday, February 12 at 9 am
Saturday, March 5 at 9 am
Rain barrel workshops are now full for these dates. Check for upcoming workshops in April.
If you are interested in signing up for one of the workshops listed above, please fill out the form for the date you would like to attend. Please fill out just one form. If the form for the date you want does not appear, it means the class is full and registration is closed. Class size is limited, and advance registration is required. You can contact the workshop organizers here if you have specific questions about the workshop.
