2011 Winter School

The 2011 Tennessee Master Gardener State Leadership Conference will be held in Murfreesboro at the Lane Agri-Park from Thursday, February 24 through Saturday February 26.  The conference will feature leadership training, skills development, and an opportunity to connect with other Master Gardeners from across the state.

The Teaching Track will be held on Thursday and Friday and will address empowering volunteer educators to develop effective teaching and presentation skills.  Train-the-trainer sessions will be offered on the new Tennessee Master Gardener Handbook chapters: (1) Basic Horticulture, (2) Soils and (3) Water.  Participants will also learn how to incorporate “active learning” in these vital educational topics.

The Leadership track will kick off with presentations by the 2010 Search For Excellence award winners and will continue with a day and a half of education and inspiration.  Hamilton County will be represented in this group of award winners and will provide information on the Chattanooga Market Question and Answer Table as an example of educational outreach.   The last day of the conference will include round table sessions on how to develop and lead successful projects.

All master gardeners are encouraged to participate in Winter School.  For more information, go to the program brochure here.  To register, click on this form.
