Title: Reseeding the Cumberlands Seed Collection Outing
Location: Barker Camp, Mowbray Mountain
Description: This Saturday, October 30, we’ll go back to Barker Camp on Mowbray Mountain and have a look in the lower lying areas, still trying to find unopened Hemlock cones, more Cucumber Magnolias, maybe Buckeye plus different species or more of the same but from different localities.
We can meet at the Ivy Academy parking area 8443 Dayton Pike (Soddy Daisy) at 9 am and car pool from there. The hike will be moderate to strenuous, up to 5 miles, and we can shoot for a 2 pm end time. Larry Cook from the North Chick Conservancy will have a group out there doing erosion control so we can observe that process in action or even help if we want. Hiking shoes/boots are highly advisable as well as long-sleeved shirts and pants. While on this trail, we can probably avoid brier patches, but protection is always a good idea.
Please let me know if you are planning to participate or if you have any questions!
