Cumberland Trail Ranger Terri Ballinger has just set the next Reseeding the Cumberlands collection trip for tomorrow, Saturday October 16 at the Rock Creek lower loop. The Rock Creek trailhead is just off of Leggett Road in Sale Creek. You can get more information about this part of the Cumberland Trail here: http://www.cumberlandtrail.org/docs/three_gorges_rock_description.pdf
We will be heading out on the trail at 9:00 am for a easy to moderate hike to the dry creek bed. The species collected will include Buttonbush, Cucumber magnolia, and we hope Hemlock will still be collectible. Of course, we will collect other native species that are ready. The total collection time should not exceed 3 hours.
Terri suggested that we can car pool at several points along the route from Chattanooga for those of you who would rather not drive to the trailhead. Just call Terri (423) 790-8972 to arrange for a collection point between Rossville Blvd to Highway 27.
As always, wear good shoes for hiking, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, a hat for sun protection, and bring water and lunch.
