September 5 was the last Sunday the Master Gardeners hosted a Question and Answer table at the Chattanooga Market. During the 20 week run, 1607 visitors stopped by the Master Gardener table with their gardening questions and each visitor left with information, including an average of 3 pieces of literature. Master Gardeners logged in a total of 714 hours of their time giving gardening advice and spreading the word about this volunteer corps of horticultural experts.
The table also drew many people similarly interested in receiving training from this University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture based program and becoming a volunteer. Over 100 brochures on becoming a Master Gardener were handed out to our visitors over the summer. We hope to see you in training in 2011!
